Maldives' Abdulla Shahid elected as President of UN General Assembly

Maldives' Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has been elected as President of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on Monday. Shahid received 143 votes out of the 191 ballots cast. "Warm congratulations to...Shahid for winning the election...This is a great honour for Maldives and I have no doubt [he] will do us all proud," President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said.
