Male and female monk parakeets fight equally for leadership role: Study

University of Cincinnati and Duke University researchers found that male and female monk parakeets are equally likely to start fights over their group's leadership. They regularly engage in fights to negotiate their position within the group. The study further said that other parakeets pay attention to these fights to spot opportunities and understand their own position in the hierarchy.
