Zohran Mamdani thanked his family from “Kampala to Dilli” after taking his oath as mayor of New York City. Indian-decent Mamdani was born in Kampala, Uganda to filmmaker Mira Nair and Columbia University professor Mahmood Mamdani. "Thank you to my parents for teaching me how to be in this world, and for having brought me to this city,” he added.
