Man buys plate from thrift store for ₹435, finds out it's 250-yr-old artefact worth ₹5 lakh
A carpet cleaner named John Carcerano in US' Illinois found an antique plate hiding beneath a contemporary one at a thrift store and bought it for $4.99 (₹436). "I knew within five minutes I had something valuable," Carcerano said. Sotheby's Chinese export specialist identified it as belonging to Qing dynasty, from around 1775, and said it's worth $6,000 (₹5.25 lakh).
