Man cuts off his own foot for ₹2.7 crore insurance claim in Brazil

Vanderlay Santos, a Brazilian university clerk, has been convicted of fraud after amputating his own foot in a fake robbery to claim insurance payouts. He attempted to claim compensation from four policies, which amount to £220,050 (₹2.7 crore) if he were permanently disabled. However, forensic experts confirmed that the injury was "too clean" to have been caused during the robbery.
