Man donates part of liver to save 5-month-old niece
A 24-year-old man donated part of his liver to his five-month-old niece, Saanvika Shukla, who developed severe liver failure after bile duct blockage and liver scarring. Dr Ashish George and his team performed the complex paediatric transplant. Doctors used a preserved cadaveric vein due to the infant's tiny blood vessel. She recovered and was discharged after 20 days.
