Man fakes own kidnapping, sends wife videos of himself tied up and demands ₹50 lakh ransom

A 30-year-old Surat man, Jignesh Laljibhai Talaviya, allegedly staged his own kidnapping after suffering stock market losses, police said. He reportedly sent his wife videos of himself tied up and demanded ₹50-lakh ransom from his family. His wife had filed a missing person complaint, following which police traced him to a hotel in Godhra and exposed the fake plot.
