Man left partially paralysed after police mistook stroke for drunk driving in Mumbai

A 73-year-old man who suffered a stroke while driving and caused minor accident was allegedly kept at a Mumbai police station for hours on suspicion of drunk driving. His family said the delay caused him to miss critical "golden hour" for stroke treatment and left him partially paralysed. They said police mistook his slurred speech, symptom of stroke, for intoxication.
