A 23-year-old local journalist named Kirill Bazhanov proposed to his girlfriend live on air during Russian President Vladimir Putin's annual press conference. He also invited Putin to their wedding. He also told Putin that he and his girlfriend currently can't afford to have children due to high housing costs. Putin suggested they move to regions with low mortgage rates.
