Man who stabbed Rushdie, blinding him in 1 eye, jailed for 25 yrs

The 27-year-old man who stabbed author Salman Rushdie on stage in New York in 2022 and blinded him in one eye, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison. The man, identified as Hadi Matar, was found guilty of attempted murder. Matar's motivation for trying to kill Rushdie stemmed from a 2006 speech delivered by slain Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.
