The 36-metre, $460,000 statue of communist China's founder Mao Zedong has been destroyed in the Chinese Henan province. Latest circulating photos showed the hands, legs and feet of the statue were missing and a black cloth was draped on the head. The reason for the demolition is unclear, though The Guardian reported it did not have proper government approval.
