Marathi mandate violates fundamental rights: Maha drivers to Bombay HC
Cab drivers in Maharashtra filed a petition in Bombay High Court against the Marathi mandate stating it violates fundamental rights. The rule violates fundamental rights under Constitution's Article 14 (right to equality), 19 (freedom to practice profession) and 21 (right to life), the petition said. It added that Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, doesn't mandate language requirement for driving licences.
