Marilyn Monroe worked in a World War II factory for $20 a week, assembling remote-controlled pilotless aircrafts as an 18-year-old. The actress was "discovered" by an army photographer who was sent to the factory to capture pictures of women in war production. Monroe, who died on August 5, 1962, was called for a screen test after these photos were published.
