Marketa Vondrousova becomes lowest-ranked woman to win Wimbledon, gets ₹25 crore

World number 42 Marketa Vondrousova defeated world number six Ons Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 in the Wimbledon women's singles final on Saturday to win her maiden Grand Slam title. With this, Vondrousova became the lowest-ranked woman to win Wimbledon singles title since the rankings were introduced in 1975. The 24-year-old Czech won a prize money of £2.35 million (over ₹25 crore).
