Marriage isn't blanket consent: Guj HC to man accused of sexually assaulting wife

Gujarat High Court (HC) refused anticipatory bail to a man accused of sexually and physically assaulting his estranged wife, saying marriage "cannot be treated as automatic consent." HC said modern legal thinking recognises bodily autonomy even within marriage. Court records showed the accused had married the complainant as his second wife, and his first wife had earlier made similar allegations.
