University of Kerala researchers have identified Martian analogue sites: Neyveli and the Tiruchirappalli Badlands in Tamil Nadu, and Chile's Atacama Desert. Using a laser Raman spectrometer, they detected melanterite at Neyveli and gypsum at other two sites. These hydrous sulphates record water-rock interactions, offering insights into Mars' aqueous history and potentially habitable environments.
