Massive asteroid struck North Sea 43-46 mn years ago, unleashed 330-foot tsunami

Scientists have confirmed that Silverpit Crater, buried 700 metres beneath North Sea seabed, formed when a 160-metre wide asteroid struck Earth around 43-46 million years ago. A study in Nature Communications, said the impact triggered a tsunami over 330 feet high. The crater was discovered in 2002 and some researchers had attributed it to geological processes rather than extraterrestrial object.
