Massive chest tumour compressing heart and lungs removed

Doctors at KIMS Hospital, Kondapur, successfully removed a rare 15 cm retrosternal goitre compressing a woman's heart, lungs, and major vessels in a high-risk 7-hour surgery. The 35-year-old had symptoms of SVC Syndrome. A multidisciplinary team performed a sternotomy-thoracotomy approach. She recovered well. Experts stressed the need for early detection and specialised care in such cases.
