Massive power outage as thousands left without electricity in Bay Area due to heatwave
More than 23,000 customers were reportedly left without power in the Bay Area as extreme heat caused transformers to blow up in several regions. PG&E's online outage map showed significant power outages in the East Bay and the South Bay. Morgan Hill, Pleasant Hill, Sunnyvale area and Cupertino area saw more than 10,000 affected customers.
