Massive salary hike likely under 8th Pay Commission; arrears could reach ₹15 lakh: Report

Central government employees may receive arrears for nearly 20 months, with payouts ranging from ₹3.6 lakh to ₹15 lakh, depending on basic pay levels, under the 8th Pay Commission, reports said. Further, employee unions have demanded fitment factor in the range of 3 to 3.25. If accepted, this could sharply increase minimum basic salary from ₹18,000 to around ₹54,000.
