Mathrubhumi MD and Rajya Sabha member Veerendra Kumar dies at 83

Rajya Sabha member and Malayalam newspaper Mathrubhumi's Managing Director MP Veerendra Kumar passed away on Thursday at the age of 83 in Kozhikode. A veteran socialist leader and a former Union Minister, Kumar was jailed during the Emergency. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and son MV Shreyams Kumar, who is the Joint MD of Mathrubhumi.
