Mauresmo appointed first female director of French Open tournament

Former world number one Amelie Mauresmo has been appointed the first ever female director of the French Open, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) said on Thursday. Mauresmo, 42, was appointed after Guy Forget stepped down on Tuesday. "I am very proud to join the Roland Garros team. I have accepted the position of Tournament Director with clear ambitions," Mauresmo said.
