France began their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with a 3-1 win over Senegal. France captain Kylian Mbappe scored twice, taking his tally of FIFA World Cup goals to 14. His double made him France's all-time leading goalscorer with 58 international goals, surpassing former striker Olivier Giroud.
