MEA issues statement as Nepal imposes customs duty on Indian goods

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India is aware Nepal is enforcing a pre-existing rule to collect customs duty on goods worth over 100 NPR brought by travelers from India. He added that the move aims to curb informal trade/smuggling. "We've also seen a statement by Nepali official that civilians carrying household goods for personal use won't be obstructed," he added.
