The Medical Council of India (MCI) has slashed 250 MBBS seats in several medical colleges across Odisha. The council, however, has permitted two other colleges in the state to increase the number of seats by 150. This leaves Odisha with 1,000 medical seats for the current academic session against previous year's 1,100. Of these, 650 seats are in government colleges.
