Medvedev 1st player outside Big 4 in 17 years to finish season in top 2

Russia's Daniil Medvedev has become first men's player outside the "Big four"- Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, to finish the 2021 season ranked inside top two since ex-world number one Andy Roddick in 2004. Medvedev won four titles this year, including his first Grand Slam title in New York. The 25-year-old finished as world number two.
