Meena Kumari was grievously ill during 'Mere Apne': Gulzar

During an interview, lyricist and writer Gulzar revealed that Meena Kumari was "grievously ill" during the shooting of his directorial debut 'Mere Apne', which released in 1971. He added that the actress was on the last stage of her illness and in no condition to come to the sets. Meena died at the age of 38 due to liver cirrhosis.
