Meghalaya's Garo Hills polls postponed as 2 people die in clashes

The Meghalaya government postponed the Garo Hills elections scheduled for April 10 as two people died in police firing amid clashes between tribals and non-tribal groups seeking to contest the polls. CM Conrad Sangma announced the decision in a video message. Authorities imposed a curfew in two districts and suspended internet services in five districts in response to the violence.
