Meghalaya study finds anti-cancer potential in weaver ants

A study by North-Eastern Hill University researchers found extracts of the Asian weaver ant Oecophylla smaragdina may show anti-cancer potential. Tests on mice with lymphoma cells showed longer survival and tumour cell death. Scientists say further studies are needed to identify the compounds and confirm medical use.
