Merchant Navy officer dies near Strait of Hormuz, J'khand family seeks help

Captain Rakesh Ranjan, a resident of Jharkhand's Ranchi, died on board a merchant vessel near the Strait of Hormuz, reportedly due to cardiac arrest, his family said. They have urged the Centre and Chief Minister Hemant Soren to help bring back his body. The 43-year-old had joined the vessel, 'ASP Avana- RPSL-MUM-172', owned by a private company, on February 2.
