Messi becomes 1st player to record 10 assists in FIFA WC knockouts

Argentina's Lionel Messi became first player to register 10 assists in FIFA World Cup knockout matches after providing two against England in World Cup 2026 semi-final. He took his overall World Cup assist tally to 12, highest by any player since records began in 1966. Messi has scored or assisted in a record 11 straight World Cup matches since 2022.
