Messi named in Argentina's FIFA World Cup squad for record 6th appearance

Lionel Messi has been included in Argentina's 26-member FIFA World Cup 2026 squad. Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are set to become the first men to play in six FIFA World Cups. Argentina are set to face Algeria, Austria and Jordan in the tournament's group stage. Argentina will attempt to become the first back-to-back champions since Brazil in 1962.
