Messi scores twice as Argentina qualify for FIFA World Cup knockouts for 6th straight edition
Argentina defeated Austria 2-0 in their Group J match to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout stage. Lionel Messi scored in the 39th minute to become the highest goal-scorer in World Cup history with 17 goals, before netting his 18th in the 95th minute. Argentina have now reached the knockouts for the sixth straight FIFA World Cup edition.
