The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued an orange alert for the next 24 hours in Uttarakhand. This comes after heavy rains and cloudbursts in the state killed at least 38 people, flooded rivers, and blocked the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway (NH-58). An orange alert implies that people in the affected areas should prepare themselves for the upcoming weather conditions.
