Meta declares first-ever dividend, shares jump 14%

Meta Platforms issued its first ever dividend days ahead of social network Facebook's 20th anniversary. Meta, one of the tech sector's original unicorns, said its dividend would be 50 cents per share and also announced it had authorised an additional $50 billion in share repurchases. Meta's shares jumped by more than 14.5% to $449.51 in after-hours trading on Thursday.
