Meta fined $275 million for breaking EU data privacy law

Ireland's Data Protection Commission fined Meta $275 million for a data breach that led to the personal information of over 500 million Facebook users being leaked online. Irish regulators issued the fine over reports that Facebook had not safeguarded its platform against being "scraped" for information. Meta said in a statement, "Unauthorized data scraping is unacceptable and against our rules."
