Meta removes 7 lakh Instagram, Facebook accounts in Australia

Meta removed 4.62 lakh suspected under-16 Instagram accounts and 2.94 lakh Facebook accounts between December and June as it enforces Australia's social media age restriction. The figures more than doubled from 3.31 lakh Instagram and 1.73 lakh Facebook accounts removed by January, Reuters reported. Meta said it is stepping up efforts to tackle online abuse and image-based exploitation.
