Meta signs deal to power data centres with solar energy collected in space

Meta has signed a deal with Overview Energy to power data centres with solar energy. The startup is developing infrastructure to collect solar energy in space and beam the infrared light to solar farms, which can power data centres at night. The deal will grant Meta early access to about 1 gigawatt of capacity from the systems, Reuters reported.
