Mexico deploys 1,00,000 troops for FIFA WC 2026 amid protests

Mexico has reportedly deployed nearly 1,00,000 personnel from the military, police and private firms to provide security for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will begin on Thursday. This comes amid protests by thousands of members of the Mexican teachers' union, CNTE, demanding higher wages. Mexico will host matches across three cities, including Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey.
