Mexico deploys 10,000 troops nationwide after drug lord’s death

In response to the killing of notorious drug lord Nemesio 'El Mencho' Oseguera, Mexico has deployed approximately 10,000 soldiers across 20 states to enhance security. The operation, aimed at stabilising the situation, comes with school closures and a notable rise in violence, resulting in 74 casualties, including National Guard personnel, as communities navigate the aftermath.
