Michelle O'Neill becomes 1st nationalist leader of Northern Ireland

Michelle O'Neill has become the first Irish nationalist to become Northern Ireland's First Minister in a power-sharing arrangement between the pro-UK 'Democratic Unionist Party' and others. O'Neill hails from the pro-Irish unity 'Sinn Fein' party. Island of Ireland was split into two entities in 1921, with Northern Ireland remaining part of UK and Republic of Ireland becoming a separate country.
