Microbes that eat methane can convert emissions into bio-plastics & fuel, study finds
Microbes that consume methane, called methanotrophs, can be used to convert the harmful greenhouse gas into useful products like animal feed, biodegradable plastics and cleaner fuels, according to a study published in journal Energy & Environment Nexus. This shows these microbes can become a "strategic biological tool for a low carbon future", the study's lead author said.
