Microplastics discovered in Antarctica’s only native insect

Scientists found microplastics inside "Belgica antarctica", Antarctica's only native insect, proving plastic pollution has reached even remote polar regions. Although levels are currently low, exposure reduced the insect's energy reserves, raising concerns that long-term pollution and climate change together could harm fragile Antarctic ecosystems.
