Microsoft, Amazon and Google emit as much CO2 as a European nation
Microsoft, Amazon and Google's collective carbon emissions have increased by nearly 20% in the past year, reaching 119 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent (mTCO2e) or around a third of those of France in FY26. The previous year, they emitted 101 million mTCO2e, equivalent to Czechia's 2024 emissions. The surge is mainly due to the construction of new data centres.
