Microsoft, Tata Communications to build India-Southeast Asia undersea cable

A consortium including Microsoft, Tata Communications, and Singapore startup Lightstorm plans to build a new undersea cable linking India with Malaysia and Singapore. The network, which is expected to be operational in 2029, will span 3,600 km and have landing stations in Andhra Pradesh's Machilipatnam. The I-2SEA cable will support AI and cloud infrastructure, firms in the consortium said.
