Microsoft gives up observer seat on OpenAI board amid scrutiny

Microsoft has given up its observer seat on OpenAI's board, saying it was no longer necessary as OpenAI's governance has improved significantly. This comes as antitrust regulators increased scrutiny over how much control Microsoft has over OpenAI. Microsoft took the non-voting role on OpenAI's board in November last year after CEO Sam Altman was reinstated following his temporary ouster.
