Microsoft to challenge NVIDIA with new AI chip in September: Report

Microsoft could unveil its Maia 300 AI chip next month as it seeks to reduce its reliance on NVIDIA, The Information reported. The company has been in talks with TSMC to secure manufacturing capacity for over 3,00,000 units of the chip for delivery in 2027. It is also looking to persuade cloud customers, such as Anthropic, to adopt the chip.
