Milky Way seen as warped, twisted in 'most detailed' 3D map yet

Astronomers have created the "most detailed" 3D map of the Milky Way galaxy to date, revealing that it is warped and twisted. "Stars 60,000 light-years away from Milky Way's centre are as far as 4,500 [light years] above or below the galactic plane," a Warsaw University astronomer said. The map is based on the distribution of about 2,400 Cepheids stars.
