Millions of microplastics come off Teflon-coated pans during cooking: Study
According to a study, thousands to millions of ultrasmall plastic particles are released into food while cooking in a Teflon-coated non-stick pan. Just a single small crack on the surface of such a pan can release about 9,100 plastic particles, the study stated. Teflon is the brand name of Polytetrafluoroethylene, a kind of PFAS that has several health risks.
