The Centre has increased the minimum wage rates of workers, particularly in unorganised sectors, by revising Variable Dearness Allowance. Minimum wage rates in area 'A' for workers in construction, sweeping, cleaning, loading and unloading for unskilled work will be ₹783/day and for semi-skilled ₹868/day. Skilled and highly-skilled watch and wards will get ₹954/day and ₹1,035/day, respectively.
